What is the Spiritual Adult?
As described by Lazaris (www.lazaris.com), a Spiritual Adult is the synergy of a free inner child, a curious inner adolescent, an inner nurturing parent and a healthy positive ego. Although we are accustomed to referring to ourselves as a singular me or I, we are actually multidimensional beings with different components of selves within.
A Spiritual Adult…
- Operates from a place centered from within.
- Makes conscious choices that are not based in fear and shame but are based in self-love, self-forgiveness, and self-discovery.
- Understands that their “reality” (what they see in their outside world), is a reflection of what is going on in their inside world (their true reality).
- Creates change by taking responsibility for their choices, beliefs and emotions. They do this with curiosity and love for themselves. Just as a good parent nurtures their child with compassion, forgiveness, wisdom and love, a spiritual adult access the same components for knowing and growing themselves.
- Understands that knowing and feeling their full range of authentic emotions accelerates personal power and personal freedom.
- Realizes and understands that when they reach for toxic emotions such as blame, self-pity, jealousy, or powerlessness, it numbs them out and takes them away from creating a powerful life.
In the next several newsletters, I will go into each of these areas in more depth. As you continue to awaken the spiritual adult within, you might try practicing the exercises below.

Cindy,
I especially liked this post. I certainly enjoy my inner child!
Also, knowing that YOU are responsible for your own feelings is very liberating. Choosing to over-react or accept change calmly makes a HUGE difference… and since my daughters are watching – I choose very carefully! 🙂

Here is my challenge:
Staying present! When I am surrounded my amazing, positive, forward moving people – motivation is easy. How do you stay focused though, when you are surrounded by those that are beaten down and can’t move.
I’ve been there. I know the shear difficulty in just functioning sometimes. I do not want to feed into some else’s downward spiral.
